Dear Friends in the Fluid Field,

I write to you from the Northern Hemisphere, being aware of the shift in the light and length of the days as we approach the Autumnal Equinox. Despite the intense heat and humidity we have been experiencing I can feel the change in the seasons as we roll towards darkness and winter.
And….right before the Equinox I fly to Argentina, where the days are lengthening and Spring is eagerly awaited after a crude and colder than usual winter.

The rolling out of one season into another, regardless of the hemisphere you are in, is a great reminder of the cyclical nature of all existence.
Pondering on the cyclical nature of existence I reflect on the evolutionary process we have been engaged in as a species. Have we as humans truly evolved? When I look around at the state of the world and how humans, or “un-informed bipeds” (as Emilie Conrad, founder of Continuum, used to call us) have contributed to the present state of affairs I question our evolutionary process.

AND…..as it is often the case, I find in the words of my teacher and mentor, Emilie Conrad, a gleam of renewed hope in our potential as a species:

“We, all of us, carry the seeds of our own probable futures as we delve into our fluid deep, where our internalized oceanic matrix lovingly helps to shed our cultural constraints. In doing so, we re-member ourselves as living water brought to land, with undulating star-gleam on our backs illuminating an embryonic “primitive streak,” where all potential resides. Our senses and all of our functions are designed to evolve and grow in potential and in capacity. The neurons in our brain and the scope of our existence as manifest beings within our environment do not have to be limited. I believe that recognizing this fact and learning to expand our capacities is a possible—and desirable—destiny for the human species. Perhaps we can envision this future as our “bio-legacy,” an experience of the full scope of our humanity.”
~ Emilie Conrad, Life on Land, p. 323

Re-memebering my evolution is a process, not a final destination.
Honoring the different stages that brought me here.
Allowing myself to be supported by the different species and movements still living in me.
Honoring each stage of evolution in my daily life. Opening my eyes each day and inviting freshness as I transition from the safety of my dream world to meet all that is in front of me with an open heart.
Placing my feet on the ground with an awareness of the support and rebound from it that allows me to stand and walk.
Connecting with my back body before I tackle the “to-do” lists in front of me.
And in my verticality, I invite my “internalized oceanic matrix to shed my cultural constraints” meeting the day with responsiveness and curiosity.
Now I find my evolving nature to be a gateway to live my life from the unencumbered potential of my “bio-legacy”.

I invite you to join me and a committed group of practitioners in October to reconnect with our oceanic matrix with the incredible tools Continuum offers as our guide.

We slow down.
We honor what we bring to the circle, taking a baseline, noticing sensations.
We become familiar with our breath, without forcing or imposing our agenda on it.
We invite the breath to become audible with simple sounds.
We use touch to guide the breath into crevices that might be dormant, awakening them with support of sound.
We PAUSE and listen in Open Attention to the responsiveness of our oceanic matrix.
We express our inner choreography through movement, allowing curiosity and pleasure to guide the play.
We reclaim our bio-rhythm and follow our own pulsating nature, with no external input.
We dive into the depths of our being.
We return nourished to our circle.
We allow the ripples of our exploration to infuse the rest of our day and evolving lives.

If you are curious and ready to dive into the secrets of our endless evolving nature,
JOIN US on this collective adventure and re-membering!

With Love and Gratitude,
Marcella

We meet for 4 weeks on Saturdays (October 10, 17, 24, 31) to explore the principles of Continuum.
The first 3 Saturdays we meet 10 AM – 12:15 PM PST.
